Academy Award-winning actor Michael Caine said that Johnny Depp and Philip Seymour Hoffman will be playing the next villains in the yet-to-be confirmed follow up to The Dark Knight, according to MTV's report.

Caine said, “It’s Johnny Depp as The Riddler...and The Penguin is Philip Seymour Hoffman," after a reported confirmation through Warner Bros. Studios. Playing as Bruce Wayne's loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth, Caine has been involved with Christopher Nolan's vision of the caped crusader since Batman Begins in 2005. He also added in the report:

“I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive and I said, ‘Are we going to make another one?’ They said yeah. I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath? And he says ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.’ I said, ‘S–t, they’ve done it again!’”

Rumors about Batman's next movie villains have been swirling since July, including who will be the next Catwoman. But of course, it's a little too damn early to confirm anything since The Dark Knight's colossal success still continues. Currently, the movie's domestic total is at $511 million, sitting right below Titanic as the second highest grossing film of all time.
penguin is one disgusting, gluttonous villain. im sure looking forward to seeing him.

and funny... how come i never recall the riddler? but all the same, its just fantastic for johnny depp to play as a villain in batman because he excelled as captain jack, who is sorta a villain, in pirates of the carribean-the curse of the black pearl. hopefully, he'll be wearing heavy eyeliner this time as well haha.

and since this is being discussed on other forums, what do you think of robin playing a part in batman? since robin was killed by the joker, i dont find it as such a good idea since i doubt anyone can replace the amazing heath ledger. post your opinions/thoughts.
